Iraqi forces liberate al-Sakra in west Anbar

Iraqi forces, with the support of tribes and the international coalition, have expelled extremists from al-Sakra in Anbar province and reclaimed the strategic village from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the Anbar Operations Command said Wednesday (February 15th).

Iraqi troops "have fully retaken al-Sakra along with small surrounding villages on the Euphrates River, in western Anbar", Anbar operations commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

"ISIL has lost more than 50 terrorists and many of its vehicles, and various weapons and assets have been seized in the attack," he said.
