The Iraqi Interior Ministry said Tuesday (April 9th) security forces have foiled a terror attack involving an improvised explosive device (IED) in al-Sakra in western Anbar.
"A joint security force in Anbar province surrounded a terrorist as he was planting an IED on al-Sakra road in Haditha, near al-Fuhaimi Bridge," the ministry said in a statement.
The terrorist was "terrified" after he saw the security forces, and as a result, the IED exploded and killed him on the spot, the statement said.
Security forces are conducting a large-scale search operation in the area as a precaution against any other potential attacks, it said.
