Explosion rocks Damascus police station

An explosion rocked a police station in south-eastern Damascus on Friday (December 16th), AFP reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it remained unclear what had caused the blast in the Midan district of Damascus, while state media reported it was caused by a 7-year-old girl carrying a belt of explosives.

The explosion wounded three police officers, said pro-regime Al-Watan daily.

Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP that "one woman" was killed in the blast, but it remained unclear whether she was a suicide bomber or a bystander.
