ISIL-claimed Syria-Turkey border blast kills 29

At least 29 Syrian opposition fighters were killed and 20 other people were wounded in a blast at a border crossing with Turkey on Thursday (October 6th), AFP reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it was unclear what caused the explosion at the Atme crossing between Turkey and the northern Syrian province of Idlib.

The "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the blast, saying it had detonated a car bomb as the opposition fighters were crossing into Syria.

Turkey's Anatolia news agency said the deadly blast took place during a "change of guard" among Syrian opposition fighters in the area.
