Blast hits northern Baghdad market

One civilian was killed and eight were wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated early on Thursday (September 8th) in northern Baghdad, according to Baghdad police.

"An IED exploded this morning near an outdoor market in Saba Albur area, northern Baghdad, killing one and wounding eight others," Lt. Col. Fadhel al-Salemi of Baghdad police told Diyaruna.

"A woman and her son are among the wounded," he said, noting that the blast caused damage to shops and an adjacent house.
