Iraqi forces thwart 3 suicide attacks north of Baghdad

Iraqi forces thwarted three suicide attacks by "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in two separate locations north of Baghdad, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Wednesday (July 27th).

“Acting on intelligence, joint Iraqi forces on Tuesday night launched a preemptive operation and killed two terrorists wearing two explosives vests in al-Hura, north of Baghdad,” ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.

“A third suicide bomber blew himself up when he was besieged at Sayyid Shinawa street, al-Shuala, after he tried to blow himself up among a crowd of citizens” he said.

The incident did not cause any casualties, Maan said, because the bomber blew himself up at the end of an uninhabited street after he refused to surrender.
