ISIS militant killed in Hamreen mountains
Iraqi army forces killed an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) element in an intelligence operation Thursday (October 3rd) in the northern region of Hamreen, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said.
"The army launched a military operation in the Hamreen mountains in Salaheddine province and killed Abu Othman al-Sanjari, a dangerous ISIS terrorist," the ministry said in a statement.
The militant was killed as part of operations to crack down on ISIS hideouts in rough mountainous areas of the province.
The operation came one day after another militant, Talib Jarw al-Izzawi, and four of his aides were killed in the same area.
