2 ISIS elements arrested in Mosul

Two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements involved in terror attacks during the group’s control of Mosul have been arrested, the Ninawa Operations Command said Tuesday (September 3rd).

"Iraqi army forces arrested Mohammed al-Khamees and Saad al-Helali, two dangerous ISIS elements involved in heinous terrorist operations in recent years," commander Maj. Gen. Numan al-Zawbaie told Diyaruna.

The arrests took place during a military operation carried out in al-Baaj, west of Mosul, based on reports that the suspects had entered Iraq from Syria and had been hiding using fake IDs, he said.

"The army handed over the terrorists to the relevant judicial authorities pending their trial," he said.
