Iraqi forces uncover dozens of landmines in Ramadi

Iraqi security forces have found dozens of landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in western Ramadi based on tips provided by local residents, the Anbar police command said Wednesday (July 10th).

Residents of Nadhum al-Taqseem, in western Ramadi, have led the security forces to the location of explosives belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij told Diyaruna.

The forces "found 83 IEDs, 65 anti-armour and tanks landmines, various RPGs, weapons and ammunition", he said.

"Four suspects were arrested in the same operation, and the explosives were taken to a safe place pending disposal," he added.
