Three civilians were killed and three others were wounded in a twin attack involving two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted at a water purification project in al-Sharqat, south of Tikrit, the Iraqi police in Salaheddine said Tuesday (July 9th).
"Two IEDs exploded simultaneously at a water purification project recently built by the UN to serve the local population," al-Sharqat police chief Col. Ahmed al-Jubury told Diyaruna.
Three civilians were killed and three others were wounded, including an employee, he said.
Al-Jubury accused "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) remnants in al-Sharqat of staging the attack, and noted that the police have opened an extensive investigation into the incident.
