The security authorities in Erbil seized nearly 50 kilogrammes of narcotics near the border with Iran on Sunday (June 16th).
The shipment of heroin was seized near Hajji Amran, a town on the border with Iran, according to the drug-prevention directorate in Erbil.
The raid was conducted based on intelligence and resulted in clashes between the smugglers and security forces in the area, the directorate said in a statement.
