6 ISIS cell members arrested in Ninawa

The Iraqi police arrested six "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements in an operation carried out with the support of the Iraqi army south-east of Mosul, the Ninawa police said Tuesday (May 28th).

"Joint Counter-Terrorism Service and police forces, supported by the army, arrested the members of a dangerous terror cell that was involved in several attacks in Mosul and its suburbs," Ninawa police chief Brig. Gen. Hamad Namis al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

The arrests took place in Hawi al-Salamiya, south-west of Mosul, he said.

"Arrest warrants had been issued for four of the six detainees, while the other two had been sentenced in absentia for several terrorist crimes," he said, adding that weapons and explosives in their possession were also seized.
