Iraqi forces dismantle ISIS cell in Fallujah
Iraqi forces have thwarted a plot by an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) cell to carry out attacks in the Anbar province city of Fallujah, the Ministry of Defence said Wednesday (May 22nd).
"The Iraqi army’s 10th Division intelligence units were able to penetrate and dismantle a terror cell in al-Nuaimiya,” the ministry said in a statement.
“The four masterminds who were planning to carry out terrorist operations in the coming days have been arrested,” it said, noting that warrants had been issued for their arrest under article 4 of the anti-terrorism law.
The pre-emptive operation was carried out based on intelligence information, the statement said.
