ISIS weapons cache found near Fallujah

A massive underground weapons cache that used to belong to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) was found in al-Nuaimiya, north-west of Fallujah, at dawn Wednesday (April 24th), the Anbar Operations Command said.

The cache contained about 400 kilogrammes of explosives, mortars, hand grenades, ammunition and various weapons, as well as ISIS banners, commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi said in a press briefing Wednesday afternoon.

"The cache was built under a mud-brick room in an agricultural area in al-Nuaimiya," he said.

"Local residents informed the army that the area used to be guarded by ISIS elements and that they believed ISIS had a cache there before the area was liberated by Iraqi forces in 2016," he added.
