Senior ISIS leader, 6 aides, killed in Kirkuk

A prominent "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) element was killed along with six of his aides in an operation in Kirkuk province, the Iraqi Interior Ministry’s Falcon Intelligence Cell said in a statement Wednesday (February 6th).

"In co-ordination with international coalition forces, our forces carried out a mission in al-Riyadh, Kirkuk province, and killed Ibrahim Khalil Hameed, also known as Abul Zobeir," it said.

Hameed had served as an ISIS "emir" and oversaw the training of ISIS elements in "wilayat Kirkuk" (Kirkuk province), it added.

"The terrorist and the six elements used to blow up houses and electric transmission towers using improvised explosive devices (IEDs)," the statement said, adding that they targeted security personnel and national figures.
