The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) has pledged to rebuild several primary and secondary schools that the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) had destroyed in Anbar province, al-Rutba mayor Emad al-Dulaimi said Friday (December 21st).
"In co-operation with Anbar’s local government, and as part of a large-scale UN programme to assist Iraqis in repairing what ISIS gangs had destroyed, UNICEF pledged to rebuild and rehabilitate several schools in al-Rutba and nearby villages," he said.
"The UN is making great efforts to assist the province," he said, adding that other aid organisations are also working to fix the health and education sectors.
"As an initial step, UNICEF will reconstruct 10 primary and secondary schools in al-Rutba, which would bring more than 30,000 students back to school over the next two months," he said.
It's a good news.
