Dozens of ISIS rockets seized in western Iraq

Joint Iraqi forces have confiscated more than 100 "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) 'Hellfire' rockets in a security operation in western Anbar, the Anbar Operations Command said Thursday (December 13th).

Tips from local residents led the forces to the location of the weapons cache.

"Forces from the army and Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) seized an underground cache in al-Zawya, west of Ramadi, near the Euphrates river, containing 105 locally-made Hellfire rockets with ranges of up to 10 kilometres," commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

Explosives, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), detonation cords and detonators were seized at the location, he said, adding that the hideout was destroyed and the rockets were removed to a remote location for detonation.
