More than 70% of Kirkuk’s IDPs return home

Kirkuk province has seen more than 70% of its displaced population return to their homes, governor Rakan al-Jubury said Sunday (December 9th).

"More than 70% of [internally] displaced people [IDPs] have returned home in liberated areas in southern and western Kirkuk, and we are working on bringing the rest of them home," al-Jubury said in a press conference held in the provincial building.

A plan has been devised to mobilise all provincial departments to expedite the return of displaced people, he said, by eliminating all obstacles, rehabilitating electricity, water and sanitary drainage services, and removing all "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) remnants to help make the stabilisation plan a success.
