Iraqi forces thwart car bomb attack in Fallujah

Iraqi forces foiled a car bomb attack in Fallujah Thursday (December 6th) as the driver of the car was attempting to enter the Anbar province city through its western gate, the Fallujah police said.

Security forces stopped a car packed with some 100 kilogrammes of dangerous explosives driven by a 14-year old boy, Fallujah police spokesman Lt. Col. Dhiya al-Jumaili told Diyaruna.

The driver has been arrested, he said, adding that a military engineering unit defused the explosives by disconnecting them from the detonator and a remote control device placed near the driver.

"Investigations indicate that the 'Islamic State of Iraq and Syria' (ISIS) is behind the terrorist attempt," he said.
