A new batch of displaced Iraqis have been returned from al-Hawl refugee camp in Syria to camps south of Mosul, Iraq’s Ministry of Migration and Displacement said Sunday (November 11th).
"In co-operation with the ministry of transport and the Ninawa Operations Command, the ministry [of migration] received 444 displaced Iraqis who had fled towards Syria when the 'Islamic State of Iraq and Syria' (ISIS) entered the province in mid-2014," the ministry said in a statement.
Ministry representatives met the returnees at al-Faw crossing in Snuny in Ninawa's Sinjar district.
They were provided with shelter at Hamam al-Alil camp in southern Ninawa, the statement said, noting that "the ministry provided eight civilian buses to transport the returnees to Hamam al-Alil camp and also distributed food baskets to them".
