Resident tip-off helps thwart terror attack south of Fallujah

A terrorist attack involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was thwarted in a security operation south of Fallujah in Anbar province, the Iraqi police said Tuesday (November 6th).

"Acting on a tip provided by a local resident, the police raided a residential building south of Fallujah and arrested two terrorists with IEDs in their possession, which they were planning to plant on public roads and in residential areas," Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij told Diyaruna.

The police have opened an investigation to identify others suspects believed to have worked with the two detainees or provided assistance to them, he said.

"The local resident who provided the tip will receive a reward for saving the lives of several Iraqis who could have fallen victim to those [attacks]," he said.
