Iraqi forces arrest 2 ISIS elements in Ninawa

Two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements, including one involved in mass executions during the group's occupation of Ninawa Valley in 2015, have been arrested, the Ninawa Operations Command said Monday (November 5th).

"Joint Iraqi forces carried out a large-scale operation in 16 villages and towns south and southeast of Mosul in the last two days, arresting two ISIS elements who were using fake IDs," commander Nejim Eddin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

The forces also uncovered five ISIS hideouts, including two underground tunnels, he said, noting that tip-offs provided by the local population led to the discovery of one of the hideouts.

"The hideouts were destroyed, and the weapons and explosives inside them were seized," he added.
