6 killed, 30 wounded in car bomb attack south of Mosul

At least six people were killed, including two soldiers, and 30 others were wounded in a car bomb attack in al-Qayyarah, south of Mosul, Iraqi police and health officials said Tuesday (October 23rd).

The death toll might rise as some of the wounded are in critical condition, they said.

The vehicle, which was packed with explosives, was parked near a restaurant and crowded shopping area.

"Preliminary investigations into the attack indicate that 'Islamic State of Iraq and Syria' (ISIS) gangs are behind it," the Iraqi Interior Ministry said in a statement.
