8 terror suspects arrested in Baghdad

A three-day security operation in Baghdad has netted a group of "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) suspects wanted for various terrorism-related charges, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Monday (October 22nd).

"Joint forces have arrested eight wanted terror suspects in a large-scale operation carried out over three days in several areas of Baghdad, including Abu Ghraib, al-Sidiyah and al-Tarmiya," ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.

"All the terrorist operations that the detainees were involved in had been carried out for the account of ISIS," he said, noting that weapons, explosives and narcotics were seized in the operation.

"Three detainees are among those included on a list of dangerous elements," Maan said, stressing that locals' co-operation played a key role in some of the arrests.
