Iraqi forces killed an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) element and arrested four others in an operation at the border area between Diyala and Salaheddine provinces, the Diyala Operations Command said Thursday (September 27th).
"In a large-scale operation launched Wednesday, joint forces killed a terrorist wearing an explosive vest near al-Azeem town, dismantled a number of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and destroyed a rocket launcher and two mortars," commander Lt. Gen. Mizher al-Azzawi told Diyaruna.
"Three tunnels, including one that is 900 metres long containing weapons, ammunition, canned food, medicine and bandages, were found in Jalawla (northeast Diyala)," he said.
Four suspects were arrested in the operation, he said, which will continue "until its goals have been achieved".
