ISIS camp destroyed in Anbar desert

The Iraqi air force on Wednesday (August 22nd) destroyed an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) camp in the Anbar desert, the Anbar Operations Command said.

Ground forces carried out a search and sweep operation in Wadi al-Abyadh in the Anbar desert on Wednesday morning, and detected "terrorist activities" in the area, commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

"Military helicopters were called in and dealt with the [threat]," he said, noting that the target was an "ISIS camp comprising two tunnels, mud rooms, a fuel tanker, four-wheel drive vehicles and weapons".

"The camp was fully destroyed and seven gunmen inside it were killed," he said.
