Tribesmen kill ISIS leader in Mosul

A senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leader and his aide were killed in a clash with a tribal force in al-Baaj, southwest of Mosul, Ninawa police chief Brig. Gen. Hamad Namis al-Jubury said Thursday (July 12th).

"As part of their efforts to support security and army forces, tribesmen engaged two gunmen at a deserted house near al-Baaj and killed them," al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

The police identified the two gunmen as Ahmed Farhan al-Obaidi, so-called "wali of al-Baaj", and his aide Luay al-Shatty, he said.

"Al-Obaidi and al-Shatty were involved in crimes against the tribes during ISIS's occupation of the town," he said.
