Terror suspect arrested, 35 IEDs seized in Baghdad

The Baghdad Operations Command's forces continue to crack down on "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) gangs and organised crime networks in Baghdad, the command said in a Wednesday (July 11th) statement.

Five wanted individuals, including a terror suspect, were arrested as a result of several search operations in areas west and south of Baghdad, it said.

Thirty-five improvised explosive devices (IEDs), five bombs of different sizes, and two Austrian shells left behind by ISIS were seized in the operations, the statement said.

"The explosives were removed without incident, and a terror suspect wanted according to article 4 of the anti-terrorism law was arrested in Abu Munaiser, west of Baghdad," it said.

"Four other suspects wanted according to articles 442 and 443 for thefts in various areas of Baghdad were also arrested and handed over to the appropriate authorities," the statement said.
