An "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leader was killed in a joint army-police operation in al-Sharqat Sunday evening (June 24th), the Iraqi police in Salaheddine said Monday.
"Joint forces stormed an ISIS building in al-Sharqat Island where six terrorists, including senior ISIS leader Abu Islam al-Iraqi, were staying," deputy Salaheddine police chief Col. Ahmed al-Tikriti told Diyaruna.
All six ISIS elements were killed, and weapons and explosives found in the hideout were seized, he said.
