170,000 families return to Salaheddine homes

More than 170,000 families have returned to their homes in Salaheddine province so far this year, after undergoing background checks to verify their identities, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said Tuesday (May 29th).

Families displaced by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) returned to their homes in Tikrit, al-Daur al-Sakani, al-Daur, Albu Ajayl, al-Sharqat, Baiji, Talul al-Baj, Sheikh Ali and Suleiman Bek, the ministry said in a statement.

“The programme to bring all displaced people back home to their cities, after they are cleared of ISIS remnants and after landmines and explosives are cleared, will continue in co-operation with the municipalities, interior and migration ministries," the ministry said.
