Iraqi forces dismantle 3 organised crime networks in Basra

Iraqi forces have dismantled three networks involved in oil smuggling, drug trafficking and armed robbery in Basra over the past week, the Iraqi police in Basra province said Thursday (April 5th).

"Joint security forces have arrested 40 wanted individuals who were part of three dangerous networks specialised in smuggling oil, armed robberies and drug trafficking," Col. Akram al-Fatlawi of Basra Police Command told Diyaruna.

"Iraqi forces clashed with a number of them after they resisted the arrest, and eventually detained them all," he said, adding that these operations will lead to "noticeable improvement" in security in Basra.
