Yazidi girl freed, captor arrested in Baghdad

Iraqi security forces freed a Yazidi girl who had been held captive by an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) element in Baghdad, the Baghdad Operations Command said Wednesday (March 28th).

Her captor, who is a member of ISIS's so-called "Ninawa province", was also arrested in the operation, the command said in a statement.

Security forces "freed a 14-year old Yazidi girl, a native of Mosul, in Baghdad's al-Shaab district" north-east of the capital, the statement said.

The girl's captor admitted to having carried out a number of terrorist operations, including kidnapping Yazidi girls, it said.
