7 ISIS elements killed in thwarted attack near Kirkuk

Kirkuk police forces on Sunday (March 4th) said they foiled an attack by "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements on a village in al-Abbasi, south-west of Kirkuk.

Seven of the attackers were killed when police forces repelled an attack targeting security checkpoints and a police station in al-Abbasi, Lt. Col. Ali Malallah of the Kirkuk police command told Diyaruna.

"Seven terrorists, including a suicide bomber, were killed, and about five other gunmen fled to an unknown place, but we are now looking for them," he said.

"Two security elements were wounded in the clashes," he added.
