Iraqi forces found a hidden cache belonging to "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria"(ISIS) militants in a village west of Baghdad thanks to a tip from local farmers, the Iraqi Interior Ministry announced Tuesday (February 6th).
Security forces received information from a group of farmers from a village in Abu Ghraib about a secret ISIS cache containing explosives and weapons, Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.
They found 22 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), shoulder-mounted missiles, explosives, and various weapons inside the cache, as well as "information on a mobile device that is of significance", he said.
Residents from the village guided the security forces to a suspect who frequented the place and is currently being interrogated, he added.
"Those who reported the information will be rewarded as they have saved innocent lives," he said.
