Iraqi forces destroy 2 ISIS positions in Anbar's desert

Iraqi forces uncovered two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) positions in an operation supported by international coalition warplanes in Anbar's desert, the Anbar Operations Command said Wednesday (January 10th).

The army’s 1st Division and Border Guard forces, supported by tribal mobilisation forces and coalition warplanes, conducted a military operation in Jalabat, Maalia and Wadi al-Abyadh near the Syrian border, commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

They destroyed two ISIS positions and killed 21 militants, he said, adding that four vehicles, including a four-wheel-drive vehicle loaded with weapons and ammunition were also destroyed.

"The operation is part of a series of surprise attacks on ISIS remnants in the desert," he said.
