Iraqi forces have arrested 11 "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements in a carefully-planned operation south of Mosul on Tuesday (January 2nd), the Ninawa Operations Command said.
"A joint army-police security force on Tuesday morning carried out a security campaign in co-operation with the intelligence agencies in Albu Youssef, south of Mosul, and arrested 11 ISIS elements," operations commander Nejim Eddin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.
They were hiding in a house where they were planning attacks on security forces from the east and south of Mosul, he said.
Operations are ongoing to capture other extremist elements in the al-Shmaysat area, who are also involved with the group that was arrested, al-Jubury said.
