2 ISIS bases destroyed north of Fallujah

Iraqi forces uncovered two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) positions and a large weapons cache north of Fallujah during a large-scale comb and search operation, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said Thursday (December 14th).

The Iraqi army’s 7th Division, acting on accurate intelligence, found two ISIS bases and an underground weapons cache in al-Tharthar, north of Fallujah, the ministry said in a statement.

"The two bases were fully destroyed to prevent ISIS terrorists from regrouping there," it said.

The contents of the weapons cache, which included 30 containers of the C-4 explosive, five Katyusha rocket launchers, 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and a number of mortars, were seized, the statement said.
