Conference to combat ISIS ideology kicks off in Baghdad

The third international conference for combating "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) ideology and propaganda kicked off in Baghdad on Wednesday (December 13th), less than one week after Iraq announced its final victory over ISIS in the country.

More than 100 international experts and advisors representing more than 42 Arab and foreign countries are taking part in the two-day conference, held under the auspices of the Iraqi government.

"The conference will focus on discussing ideas, proposals and research on how to stop the spread of ISIS ideology, protect young men and control outlets through which terrorist ideology spreads," Feras Ahmed, a member of the conference's organising committee, told Diyaruna.

It also will focus on how to refute extremist ideology through true Islamic teachings, he said.

"The conference features 10 seminars and two brainstorming sessions to hear success stories from other countries that have combated terror groups in the past," he added.
