Iraqi forces destroy ISIS camp in Anbar desert

An "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) camp was destroyed in a joint ground operation by Iraqi forces on Monday morning (October 16th), the Anbar Operations Command said.

"Iraqi forces destroyed an ISIS camp in al-Wasf area in the Anbar desert where 15 ISIS gunmen were holed up," command spokesman Col. Mohammed al-Dulaimi told Diyaruna.

Iraqi forces clashed with the extremists for more than two hours before resolving the battle in their favour at dawn Monday, he said, noting that the camp was fully destroyed and the fighters were killed.

"The camp, the second to be destroyed in one week, was being used as a base for launching terrorist attacks on Upper Euphrates areas," he said.
