ISIS camp destroyed in western Anbar desert

At least 20 militants were killed in a Friday (October 13th) airstrike on an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) training camp in the Anbar desert near the Syria border, the Anbar Operations Command said.

"Acting on prior intelligence and co-ordination with the Iraqi army, international coalition warplanes targeted an ISIS training camp in south-west Anbar, known as Camp Abu Talha," command spokesman Col. Mohammed al-Dulaimi told Diyaruna.

"The camp was fully destroyed, and at least 20 terrorists, including foreign fighters, were killed," he said, adding that several vehicles, a fuel tanker, weapons and various assets were also destroyed in the strike.

The camp was a base for launching attacks on nearby al-Rutba and Heet, he said.
