Iraqi police crack down on ISIS cells in Kirkuk

Iraqi police arrested 25 wanted individuals, including "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) sleeper cell members, in a western Kirkuk village, the Kirkuk police said Thursday (August 17th).

"In co-operation with the Peshmerga forces, the police on Thursday morning carried out a raid and search operation in the village of Bajwan in al-Debs district," police spokesman Col. Salam al-Jaf told Diyaruna.

The operation, based on prior intelligence, resulted in the arrest of 12 terror suspects and 13 other suspects, he said.

"Light and medium weapons, and dynamite sticks were seized in the detainees’ possession," he said.
