3 police stations open in western Mosul

The first three police stations were opened in western Mosul after its liberation from the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) last month, Iraq's Joint Operations Command said Thursday (August 17th).

"The police stations will help establish security and order," command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

"Other stations will be opened in every area after it is cleared of remnants of war," he said.

Police forces will enforce security in residential areas, allowing the army to focus on counter-terrorism missions, he added.
