Police kill senior ISIS leader in Mosul shootout

Iraq's Federal Police killed a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leader during a shootout in Mosul, a police spokesman said Thursday (August 10th).

“A Federal Police force killed Abdul Sattar Mohammed, also known as Abi al-Hakam, who is an ISIS ‘sharia judge’ in Mosul’s Old City,” said Federal Police Chief Lt. Gen. Raed Shaker Jawdat.

The police force exchanged gunfire with Mohammed before storming the Mekkawi street area of Mosul's Old City where he was hiding, he said.
