Iraqi forces clear 20 Mosul neighbourhoods of explosives

Operations to clear Mosul of "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) remnants are ongoing.

So far, 20 neighbourhoods in west Mosul have been cleared of landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and unexploded ordnance, Iraq's Joint Operations Command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul said Wednesday (July 19th).

"Teams of Iraqi volunteers are taking part in the campaign which aims to return residents to west Mosul as soon as possible," he said.

Iraqi forces have also dismantled dozens of houses rigged with explosives and removed the debris of buildings and damaged vehicles, he said.
