Iraqi forces repel major terrorist attack in Salaheddine

The Iraqi army repelled a large-scale attack by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) in Salaheddine province, killing 43 of the group's fighters, the Ministry of Defence said Thursday (July 6th).

"The army has thwarted an attack launched by ISIS terrorists on our forces in al-Khadhraniya village, north of al-Shirqat, using vehicles packed with explosives," the ministry said in a statement.

"Forty-three terrorists, including foreign nationals, have been killed and various weapons and vehicles have been seized in the operation," the statement said.
