Iraqi forces free 5 young Yazidis kidnapped by ISIS

Five Yazidis kidnapped by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) have been freed, the Kurdish region's government said Wednesday (June 21st).

"Iraqi forces have freed five kidnapped Yazidis -- three girls and two children -- as part of the ongoing Mosul liberation operations," the regional Office for Yazidi Abductee Affairs said in a statement.

They have been transferred to a medical centre to receive care, the statement said.

The two children and two of the girls are from the village of Koju in Dohuk, while the third girl is from another village in south-west Dohuk, it said.

"The number of Yazidis who have been freed so far is 3,036," the statement said.
