Senior ISIS leaders killed in Mosul special operation

Iraqi forces killed three senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leaders in al-Shefaa neighbourhood, the group's last stronghold in Mosul, Iraq's Joint Operations Command said Wednesday (June 14th).

"Special Iraqi units carried out an incursion behind enemy lines in al-Shefaa neighbourhood in Mosul, where they stormed an ISIS headquarters and killed three senior ISIS leaders -- Abu Hajer al-Shami, Ali Abdul Rahman and Saad al-Jubury," command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

"The units also killed many of the ISIS leaders' aides, taking advantage of the element of surprise in the morning raid," he said.
