The area controlled by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) in Mosul has shrunk over the past two days to just 10% of the total area of the city, Federal Police Chief Lt. Gen. Raed Shaker Jawdat said on Monday (May 8th).
"As of noon on Monday, the area under ISIS control has shrunk to just 10% following the liberation of Mashayrfa 1, 2 and 3 neighbourhoods, Shikak al-Harmat, Halila, portions of al-Kanisa and about half of Wadi Akab," Jawdat told Diyaruna.
"We are just 7 residential neighbourhoods away before announcing the full liberation of Mosul," he said, adding that he expected the battles to be resolved "before the end of this month".
