Syria evacuations resume after deadly bombing

The evacuation of civilians and fighters from besieged Syrian towns resumed on Wednesday (April 19th) after a weekend bombing at a transit point killed 126 people, 68 of them children, AFP reported.

Dozens of buses from the regime-held towns of Fuaa and Kafraya on Wednesday reached the edge of the opposition-held transit point of Rashidin outside regime-held Aleppo.

At the same time, 11 buses carrying around 300 people left opposition-held Zabadani, Serghaya and Jabal Sharqi in Damascus province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"The process has resumed with 3,000 people leaving Fuaa and Kafraya at dawn and nearly 300 leaving Zabadani and two other opposition-held areas," said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman.

Rashidin was the scene of Saturday's deadly bombing. At least 109 of the dead were evacuees. The rest were aid workers and opposition fighters guarding the convoy.
