Iraqi forces arrested a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leader near the Diyala provincial capital of Baqubah, the Iraqi army’s Tigris Operations Command said Tuesday (March 7th).
“Combat units from the Tigris Operations Command on Tuesday night carried out a carefully planned operation near Baqubah" based on intelligence information, Operations Commander Lt. Gen. Muzhir al-Issawi said.
The operation led to the arrest of the finance chief of ISIL's so-called "wilayat Diyala" during the operation, al-Issawi said.
